Introduction to Continuum: The Art of Being Fluid

Continuum is a unique somatic approach that acknowledges the primacy of the fluid system and the depth of healing that comes when we engage the fluids. Explore Continuum breaths and vocalized sounds, and biological movements which like water, spiral, spread, pulsate and undulate. In a state of attentive presence let unfold the fluid movement you are. These internal movements and felt-sensations will begin to organize and re-organize in new and unexpected ways. To engage with our fluid nature in this manner, is to stimulate our body’s capacity for self-regulation and well-being. This practice is a refreshing resource that informs our personal, physical and relational life, our creative activities and in general, our perception of the world in which we live. I invite you to join me in this adventure, where participants are encouraged to embark at their own pace, in the creative spirit of inquiry and discovery. This one day introduction prepares participants for all other classes and workshops offered.

*At this point in time there is no Introductory workshop scheduled for the fall of 2024. It is possible that a workshop will be announced at a later date.

Resonant Bodies // Fluid Intelligence : Somatic drawing with Continuum

Tune into the interstitial spaces of collective movement, silence, sounding, and drawing.  This workshop explores the fertile connections between Continuum (taught by Linda Rabin) and drawing as spontaneous gesture (facilitated by SALT artists, Rachel Crummey and Tara Dougans: ).  These practices incline us towards inhabiting the present moment with greater ease and creative flow.

With Continuum, we slow down and become intimate with internal rhythms, inviting a fluid intelligence beyond the thinking mind.  When we tune our minds and bodies in this way, drawing then becomes an embodied expression of the present moment. What can listening together teach us about collective emergence? What does it mean to relate, and make, from this place?  Continuum offers us access to sensations flowing below our habitual attention, while drawing offers us a portal for expressing this fluid matrix, enabling us to share in a non verbal form.

This workshop is open to artists, writers, dancers, the MTL Continuum community and somatically curious folk.  No previous experience in Continuum or with drawing necessary.  Drawing materials will be provided.

Continuum: and the Space Between ………….. 2025

What do we experience when we bring our attention to stillness and to the invisible? What movements arise, what potency of life can emerge? In this workshop we will explore the nuances that live in the pauses between breaths, the felt-sensations between movements, the space between actions. From the micro to the macro, we will enter “in between” and ride the waves that carry us into the unimagined intimacy and immensity of being.

Practicing Continuum helps us slow-down in our otherwise fast-paced life. It gives us time to rest, to recuperate, to engage the imagination and to awaken our creative nature. We feel revitalized, well with ourselves, with others and the world around us.

*Would you like to participate in a class, but this schedule does not coordinate well with yours? If so, please contact me to see what other option is possible. With enough people, I can open up another class that could work for you.
